Every design is different, chosen by hand, and most are never posted online, so there’s far more in store on Main Street, Nadi than you’ll see here. Seen something on our socials? Message us a screenshot and we’ll tell you if it’s still here.

A pair for a new bride, a single bangle for a daughter's graduation, one more to add to your own stack: the questions are the same. What size, how bold, and which style will you actually wear.

What to look for

The 916 stamp

Every 22ct gold bangle at Shreeji Jewellers is stamped 916, meaning 91.6% pure gold. On a bangle you will usually find it on the inside. If you want to know more about gold purity, read our guide on how to check gold purity.

Styles

  • Plain or lightly patterned: smooth or textured bands that suit every day and stack well.
  • Detailed and stone-set: wider bangles and cuffs with raised work, filigree or coloured stones. These are often chosen for weddings, pujas and Diwali.
  • Openable bangles: some designs open on a hinge or screw, which helps if the hand is wider than the wrist. Ask which styles we have when you visit.

In many Fiji Indian families, bangles are part of what a bride wears and keeps. They are also a common gift for birthdays and milestones.

Getting the size right

Most bangles are solid circles that have to slide over the hand, so size is measured as the inner diameter, not the wrist.

  • The easiest way is to take a bangle that already fits well and measure straight across the inside, edge to edge, in millimetres.
  • If there is no bangle to measure, our ring and bangle size guide explains how to measure the hand.
  • Buying for someone else? Borrow one of their bangles for a day, or ask a family member who knows the size.

A bangle that is too tight is hard to get on and off. One that is too loose can slip off or catch. Trying on in store is the surest way.

Everyday or occasion

Slimmer bangles are comfortable for daily wear and easy to stack. Wider, more detailed bangles make a statement at weddings and festivals. Many people wear a pair of slimmer bangles every day and keep bolder ones for occasions. Heavier and more detailed pieces cost more, and we'll show you options to suit your budget.

Wearing and caring for 22ct bangles

22ct gold is 91.6% pure, which gives it its deep, rich colour. Treat it kindly and your bangles will look good for years.

  • Take bangles off for the gym, gardening and heavy housework.
  • Store each one separately, or in a bangle box, so they stay looking their best.
  • Wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing.

There is more in our care guide for 22ct gold.

Buying bangles on a trip home

If you are flying in from Australia, New Zealand, the USA or Canada:

  1. Measure before you leave home. Write down the inner diameter of a bangle that fits, for each person you are buying for.
  2. Call or email ahead on +679 806 4660 or info@shreejifiji.com to ask what is in the shop.
  3. Leave time to choose. Bangles are often bought alongside a bridal necklace set or mangalsutra, and families like to choose together.
  4. Come in early in your trip. It gives you time to try on, think it over and come back with the family.

At the counter

Bring a bangle that fits, or its inner diameter written down, for each person. Tell us whether the bangles are for every day or for an occasion, and whether they need to match a necklace set, and we'll bring out a few to try on side by side.

  • A 22ct gold openwork bangle with two-tone leaf detail
  • A 22ct gold curb bracelet with textured links
  • A 22ct gold adjustable bracelet with two-tone beads
