Diamond engagement rings in Nadi, Fiji

Choosing an engagement ring is a big decision, and it helps to see rings in person. Every diamond we sell comes with a Certificate of Authenticity listing its carat weight, cut, clarity and colour, handed to you at purchase.

Every design is different, chosen by hand, and most are never posted online, so there’s far more in store on Main Street, Nadi than you’ll see here. Seen something on our socials? Message us a screenshot and we’ll tell you if it’s still here.

Maybe you are planning to propose while you are home in Fiji, or you live here and want to see rings in person before you decide. Either way, a little preparation makes choosing much easier.

What to look for

The 4Cs

Every diamond is described by four qualities. Your Certificate of Authenticity lists all four.

What it means
Carat The size of the diamond.
Cut How well the diamond is shaped and polished, which affects how it sparkles.
Clarity How free the stone is of tiny inclusions, judged under magnification.
Colour Graded from D (colourless) down the alphabet towards light yellow or brown.

No single C matters most for everyone. A well-cut stone with a slightly lower colour or clarity grade can look brighter than a larger stone that is poorly cut. Our engagement ring buying guide goes through the trade-offs in more detail.

Read the certificate

Before you buy, read the Certificate of Authenticity and check the details match the ring in front of you. If you want to understand how natural and lab-grown diamonds are described on paperwork, see our post on natural vs lab-grown diamonds.

Choosing a style

  • Solitaire: one diamond on a plain band. Simple, and it lets the stone stand out.
  • Halo or cluster: a ring of smaller diamonds around the centre, or a group of stones set together, which gives a bigger look.
  • Detailed bands: twisted, split or diamond-set bands add sparkle along the finger.

Think about your partner's everyday life. Someone who works with their hands may prefer a lower setting that is less likely to catch. Look at the jewellery they already wear: if it is mostly yellow gold, or mostly white or rose, that is a good clue. Our settings are 18ct or 9ct gold in yellow, white or rose, and the range changes, so ask what's in store. Our post on white, rose and yellow gold explains the differences.

Many couples choose a wedding band at the same time. We also keep plain gold wedding bands, so you can try the two together.

Getting the size right

Ring size is the part people worry about most, especially for a surprise. Borrow a ring your partner wears on the right finger and have it measured, or bring it with you. Australia and New Zealand use letter sizes, while the USA and Canada use numbers, so always say which system your size comes from. Our ring size guide shows how to measure at home. If you are unsure about adjusting the size later, ask us before you buy.

Wearing and caring for a diamond ring

  • Take it off for the gym, gardening, cleaning and swimming.
  • Put on hand cream and sunscreen before your ring, not after.
  • If the setting ever feels loose or catches, bring it in and we'll take a look.
  • Clean it gently with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, then dry it well.

Our care guide has a section on diamond rings.

Buying an engagement ring on a trip home

  1. Work out the ring size before you leave home.
  2. Call or email ahead on +679 806 4660 or info@shreejifiji.com with the style and rough carat weight you have in mind, so we can tell you what is in the shop.
  3. Keep the Certificate of Authenticity with the ring, so the details of your diamond stay together with it.

If you hold a non-Fiji passport and plan to propose after you get home, the ring may qualify for a VAT refund at the airport, but not if it is worn in Fiji; our Tourist VAT Refund Scheme guide explains the rules.

At the counter

Bring a ring that fits your partner, or the size and which system it is in, and a rough budget. Ask to see a solitaire and a cluster side by side in the same carat weight, and read the Certificate of Authenticity for any ring you are seriously considering.

  • A rose and white gold ring with a diamond-set leaf swirl
  • A two-tone gold ring with a cushion-shaped pavé diamond cluster
  • A yellow gold ring with a square diamond cluster
  • A gold ring with an open lattice centre edged with small white stones

Your diamond certificate

The four Cs, in plain words

Every diamond comes with a Certificate of Authenticity recording its carat weight, cut, clarity and colour. At the counter we’ll put rings side by side so you can see what each one means.
1.00: Carat weight
The diamond’s size. The bigger the stone, the rarer it is.
Ex: Cut
How well it’s shaped to catch the light. This is where the sparkle comes from.
VS: Clarity
How clean the stone is inside. VS diamonds look clean to the eye.
G: Colour
How white it is, graded from D. G looks bright white in a ring.
